DEA Ready To End Federal Cannabis Research Monopoly

The DEA has began approving applications for cannabis medical research. In a program started under the Obama administration, researchers were able to submit applications in hopes of being approved for research on cannabis. Since 1968, the only facility federally allowed to grow and research cannabis has been the University of Mississippi. The cannabis grown there has been known to be much closer to hemp in quality. This new change would allow places like Scottsdale Research Institute in Arizona to study the benefits of cannabis for cancer patients. This is a huge move, over 50 years in the making.
