Back in November 2020, Montana initiative 190 passed 56 to 43. January 1st, 2022, Montana’s recreational dispensaries opened their doors for good. People living in counties that voted for legalized cannabis will be able to have recreational sales. On the other hand, those living in counties opposed to the initiative will be unable to sell, unless a vote is held. Only medical dispensaries that held a license on or before November 3rd, 2020, will be able to sell recreationally for the first 18 months. In contrast to our own laws in Washington, Montana shops will only be allowed open between the hours 9am and 8pm. Those 21 years or older in Montana will be able to have 2 mature plants and two seedlings at their homes. We are excited to see another state join the green wave and hope to see more in the next few years.
